Beginning October 4th, 2016 we released 2 brand new wines for fall from the fabulous 2014 vintage. The new vintage of our RED wine is now available along with the debut from our single-varietal series made from 100% Mourvèdre.
In the tradition of Southern French red wines, where Grenache and Syrah often play as a duet, the 2014 Front Porch Red achieves that lovely balance between flower and power, intensity and complexity, yin and yang.
54% Grenache, 46% Syrah
This spicy Rhône blend showcases a broad structure with forward fruit and bold flavors. Cloves, pink peppercorns, black cherry, and raspberry liqueur dominate the fragrant nose. The mouthfeel is full and coating with enough acidity to keep you coming back for more.
When working on the 2014 Red blend, Mourvèdre emerged as the most expressive and pure of the bunch. Some fascinating personalities never shine in a crowd. Interestingly, in blending trials, it was muffled by Grenache and Syrah, hence the decision to bottle it separately. Hopefully, a new tradition of showcasing a unique lot every vintage has begun.
Notes of hibiscus and blood orange are at the forefront of this complex wine, and supple tannins support a rich, intense, and fresh mouthfeel. Complexity develops further with nutty and dark fruit flavors that linger in an expansive finish.
