Meet the Team

It’s all done with people
— Wavy Gravy

Farming is, as they say, a job outdoors. No matter hot summer days or wet, cold wintery ones, every day on the farm has its (almost) endless To-Do List. Farming organically adds another dimension of art and science to that list. The Front Porch Crew handles it all . . . with hard work, grace, and (usually) good humor.

ADOLFO

Greenhouse / Irrigation Lead

Adolfo is the person everyone wants to work with — he is always thinking ten steps ahead. He makes sure all of our plants are tended to, from sowings in the greenhouse to setting up and managing irrigation across all of our vegetable and flower crops in the field. In addition to being a vital part of the team, Adolfo also is an animal whisperer, known to save wild snakes and even disoriented deer from the farm grounds.

AMADOR

Vegetable Program Assistant Manager

Amador does a bit of everything on the farm! In addition to helping with blackberry and vegetable harvesting, Amador operates our tractors, discing and spading fields, spreading compost, and making the most beautifully straight beds for us to plant into. He can fix anything, set up irrigation faster than anyone, and gives great hugs. After spending time on a dairy in Humboldt, CA, Amador joined the team in 2015. In his spare time, he enjoys watching and playing fútbol, attending rodeos and riding horses.

Arthur.jpg

ARTHUR

Farm Guru

Botanist, master stone mason, compost guru, arborist, contractor, teacher, beekeeper, and general all-around shaman describe just a portion of Arthur's skills and interests. Curious about the Inca civilization or plants of the Amazon? Just ask Arthur. On the farm, we know that we will learn something and be inspired by almost any conversation with Arthur.

CLARENCE

Pack Shed Coordinator

Hailing from Dublin, Ireland, Clarence came to the farm after living in New York for 17 years. His attention to detail and enthusiasm for thorough cleanliness drive his work in the pack shed, leaving no bin or bucket unturned. Clarence loves languages and practices his Spanish with the farm crew whenever the opportunity arises. Clarence keeps us on our toes by testing our knowledge of miscellany with spontaneous trivia questions. On hot days, you’ll find Clarence in the river, basking in the warmth of California waters.

Elena

Flower Program Harvest Manager

Elena leads the flower crew in harvesting all of our flower orders for florists and markets, maintaining a cheery attitude and top notch quality! She is wowed every time she sees seeds germinate, and has recently fallen in love with the weird-beauty of Icelandic Poppies! A northern California local, hailing from Bolinas, Elena loves going to the beach and enjoying the ocean. We are so happy to have Elena join our team!!

Jaime.jpg

JAIME

Ranch Manager

Jaime Prado started as a ranch hand at Acorn Ranch in 2012. He currently takes care of all the day-to-day operations at the ranch and cares for the sheep. In addition to his ranch work, he also carries out all of the tractor work in the vineyard and helps on the farm as well. He is loved by all animals and babies.

JACLYN

Lead Floral Designer

Jaclyn is a floral artist known for her unconventional, wild, and sculptural work. Her background as a visual artist coupled with her deep connection to the natural world results in design evoking romance, history, time and place, and human connection.

After eight years of working as a floral designer all over Northern California and beyond, Jaclyn now joins the team at FPF. She is thrilled to have direct access flowers grown organically and sustainably by some of her favorite farmers and friends.

JOSE

Field Work Specialist

Jose holds many records on the farm including fastest parsley bunch box picked, fastest strawberry box picked, and most importantly, longest-serving employee. He is an essential member of our crew on the farm, and also manages our vineyards! Generous with his award-winning smile, he takes pride in getting work done quickly and with quality. Jose has four young children, all boys, and loves reggae music.

Mimi & Peter

Proprietors

Mimi and Peter started farming organic blueberries in 2009 at Riverbend Farm in Oregon. In 2010, they acquired Front Porch Farm, formerly a vineyard, and began to build a farm guided by the principle that diversity is nature’s basic pattern. They have shared work experiences in business, design, education, and conservation in both the USA and Europe.

OMAR

Field Operations / Equipment Lead

Omar is a wonderful member of the farm crew, always ready to get the job done – whether maintaining our fields by preparing beds for planting, laying irrigation, cultivating, or helping with harvest. He grew up working on his family’s vegetable and sheep farm and is no stranger to the fast-paced needs of life on the farm. Before coming to Front Porch, Omar worked on dairy ranches, and is glad to now have his hands back in the soil. Omar has four beautiful children, and enjoys camping, fishing, and hunting on the weekends.

PRIMO JOSE

Field Work Specialist

Primo Jose is a beloved Crew member on the farm, harvesting, weeding, and doing whatever needs to get done, always ready and willing to help. He is far and above the fastest harvester, with a contagious sense of humor that results in laughter echoing across the fields from his work-mates. He is very dedicated to his family and his work. After a long career working in the vineyards of Sonoma County, he is very happy to be on the farm, working diverse tasks and living a healthy lifestyle.

SUSANNAH

Vegetable Program Manager / Marketing Director

Susannah is in love with all things produce, with particular adoration for fruits and misshapen veggies. She loves talking shop with enthusiastic customers from the farmers market, and chefs, who share her love of veggies! With a background in art and design, she also leads the graphic design and marketing for the farm. Her love of produce drives her work -- she is always happy to be on the farm, ecstatic at each turn in the season when a new fruit begins to ripen.

TOMMY

General Manager

Tommy began managing our ranch and animal operations in 2013, and has since taken over the General Management responsibilities at Front Porch. His farming career started at Warren Wilson College in 2004 and has taken him all over the country, including Colorado State University where he received a masters in Integrated Resource Management in Agriculture. If something breaks, call Tommy. When he's not fixing equipment or driving a tractor, he's driving the business side of things. Despite Tommy's unwavering commitment to the farm, he would usually rather be fishing.

ZOE

Flower Program Manager

A true farmer florist, Zoe manages the cultivation of the farm’s 6 acre cut flower program. With years of experience leading our floral design program, Zoe utilizes her knowledge and experience to grow beautiful blooms for Bay Area florists as well as our in house floral design program. When not busy managing all things floral, Zoe coaches the farm’s softball team and puts on dance parties in the packing shed.

Coco-Cookie.jpg

COOKIE & COCO

Spirit Captains / Troublemakers

Sisters, Cookie and Coco take good care of each other, always looking for snacks from the crew lunches, good puddles of mud to wrestle in, or nice sunny spots to snuggle up for an afternoon nap on the lawn. In theory, Cookie and Coco are supposed to protect the farm's livestock from menacing predators . . . . We are hoping their cuteness will serve as enough of a distraction for now.
