Tasting Note

Our last Red blend will go out with a bang! With a layered nose of black mission fig, Kalamata olive, and smoked meat, this wine announces its richness and complexity. From a silky soft, blackberry laden first sip, it takes you through a plush mouthfeel and finishes stretched out on a pillow of dried roses. For some reason, this wine reminds me both of Julia Child and her wonderful Bœuf Bourguignon recipe. I think all three would have a blast together.

Vintage Note

2020 started as a dry winter with half of our typical rainfall. Lower yields (quite normal after two years of bumper crops) combined with a warmer growing season contributed to earlier maturity. As a result, these grapes were picked a week before last year as they showed great flavor at lower sugar ripeness. (All our grapes were harvested before heavy smoke became an issue in the area. No smoke taint has been detected in our wines.)
